Let’s get started! For the next 7 days, only choose items from the following list when you feel hungry or thirsty.
You can have as much as you want of any item, quantity is not an issue. You can mix and match the items any way you want. If you instinctively know you are sensitive or allergic to any of the items listed below, please avoid. For example you could have fish and chips daily for 7 days...... !!
From my clinical experience over the years of listening to patients I have learnt these are the least likely items to cause symptoms of allergic inflammation. But this is not an infallible list. 7 days of ‘clean’ food should give your body time to eliminate current food allergens from your small intestinal system, and there by turn down the unnecessary inflammatory cytokine noise coming from the lining of the Small Intestine..The reason it takes 7 days is because your Small Intestine is 5 metres long and it simply takes time to empty it.There are no shortcuts.
Repeat ....If you know you are sensitive or allergic to anything on this list then please avoid it
- Water (1-2 litres/day minimum)
- Coconut Water (not more than 400mls a day), a fresh coconut water is about 50cal
- apples, oranges
- White Fish
- Olive Oil, Organic
- Coconut Oil, Organic
- Coconut Milk, Organic
- Salt, Pepper for taste
- Herbal Tea (No caffeine)
- Eggs, organic , not more than 2 a day.
Try and stay under 1500 calories a day.
Try and limit yourself to one type of fruit daily and do not eat great quantities, e.g 2 apples a day would suffice
Sparkling, carbonated water is a good hunger quencher
Ideally try and not to eat solids after 7 pm, liquids are fine.
If it's not on this list, don’t even ask …..Repeat, if it’s not on this list, don't even ask ....this is your mantra... for the week.
You may notice some withdrawal symptoms during day 2-3; this is actually a good sign!
This intervention is simply to try and understand if by altering ones diet one can lose a few low level symptoms (Weight loss is often a welcome side effect.) For a smoother cleanse, start by decaffeinating first for as long as possible, ideally one to two weeks before you start on your 7 days.Stopping caffeine can give some people headaches which normally disappear after 1-3 days.
Please be advised, it may get boring. It's best to do the cleanse in a non-social time of your life and maybe convince a colleague or partner, friend, to try it with you. You have to be absolutely determined in these 7 days and not stray from the list, an even tiny amount of the wrong item can disrupt the process.
Note you need to keep your fluid levels up and if you tend towards constipation during this cleanse preempt it with 6-8 prunes a day and over the counter laxatives. Its better to keep your bowels going daily if possible.
